Stellar (XLM) Holders Attention: Major Network Upgrade Announced
2026-10-21 01:39:28
According to CoinMeta, Stellar officially announced that it is about to undertake a major network upgrade known as Bell (Protocol 30). This upgrade will simplify the integration of large financial technology platforms and hosting services. It introduces a new address format that provides ledger timing with millisecond precision and implements quantum encryption standards afterward. The stabilization of the infrastructure and the release of SDK version will be completed between October 16th and 23rd, 2026, with final validator voting scheduled for November 23rd. This upgrade will prepare for smart accounts on a commercial scale and begin research into quantum-safe signatures. For retail XLM holders, the announced hard fork will proceed as normal, ensuring asset security without the need for manual exchanges or asset migrations. This Bell update package focuses on eliminating architectural barriers in the commercial sector; if infrastructure, wallets, and exchanges do not update their SDK by November 23rd, they will lose the ability to recognize new ledger blocks. This upgrade is expected to reduce financial technology costs, stimulate an influx of real businesses, increase transaction volumes, and drive organic demand for XLM.
