According to CoinMeta, Flapping Airplanes completed a $1 billion Series A financing round, led jointly by Index Ventures and Lux Capital. The post-investment valuation reached $6 billion, which is four times that of January this year. The company was established about a year ago and has a team of just over 20 people; to date, it has not launched any commercial products. Its investors include Sequoia Capital, Google GV, and NVIDIA. Flapping Airplanes was co-founded by Ben Spector, Asher Spector, and Aidan Smith. During MIT, CEO Ben co-founded an incubator called Prod and has been involved in the early incubation of Cursor, Mercor, Etched, and Decart. In 2025, Ben and a Stanford team developed Megakernel, attempting to combine the computations of the entire model into a single GPU kernel, which significantly improved the utilization rate of video memory bandwidth and inference speed.
