Circleback is adjusting its subscription strategy to cope with the intensified competition in the meeting recording tool segment. After adding a free tier, users can now experience the core features before deciding whether to upgrade to the paid plan.
What functions are provided in the free tier?
Free users can record meetings, transcribe content, and use mobile apps as well as the Apple Watch application. Users can also use AI to query transcribed text and integrate with Linear and Slack.
However, the free tier only retains the meeting history of the past 30 days. To use full integration, unlimited historical records, as well as complete access permissions for API and MCP, the starting price is $14 per month, with annual payment required.
Pricing and trial strategy both lowered simultaneously
Before this adjustment, Circleback did not have a free tier, and the lowest subscription price was $20.83 per month. The company's founder stated that the originally shorter trial period led to a rapid loss of users, hence the decision to make the entry requirements more lenient.
Circleback was founded in 2023 by Ali Haghani and Kevin Jacyna. In 2024, the company raised $2.5 million in financing. The company claims to have been profitable since then.
The company claims it is still expanding.
Circleback also revealed that the team consists of only 8 people, yet their annual revenue has exceeded $1 million per employee, which is approximately $8 million when converted.
The founder stated that the company is not in a hurry to raise funds at present, but if future growth encounters bottlenecks that require financial solutions, they would also consider refinancing.
