IT News on September 28th: NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang recently refuted in an interview the claims of Jeffrey Hinton, winner of the Nobel Prize in Physics and the Turing Award, stating that his AI doomsday predictions are unfounded and will only cause panic among the public.
According to IT, Geoffrey Hinton is a pioneer in the field of neural networks and deep learning, hailed as the "godfather" of this field. This leading figure in the field of artificial intelligence recently stated that if AI gets out of control, there is a 10% to 20% chance of it leading to social collapse, and even threatening human survival.
Jensen Huang countered this, stating that Hinton's 10% prediction lacks scientific evidence: 'What a scientist says is not necessarily scientific. These predictions are harmful, and it is irresponsible for him to make such statements casually.'

He also said, "I love Hinton, but I hate his predictions. Don't think that such alarmist rhetoric can benefit society."
Jensen Huang is concerned that these predictions by Hinton may have social implications. If people hear day in and day out that AI will replace humans and even threaten human survival, then young people will become pessimistic about the future.
He gave an example, saying that some young people are even starting to worry that AI will make it more difficult to find employment, and as a result, they don't want to go to college. He said, "You shouldn't assume that issuing a warning will necessarily benefit society. We all need to be more rational and mature, and to speak with objective evidence."
