The family office business of RWA Wealth Partners will provide additional trust, estate, tax, and administrative services for Reserve, by, and Wealth Enhancement. Reserve is a specialized service offered by this company to ultra-high net worth clients. RWA Private Wealth will operate in the form of advisory teams under Wealth Enhancement.
Minneapolis and Boston, September 30, 2026 / PRNewswire / Wealth Enhancement is establishing new cooperative relationships with Reserve, by, Wealth Enhancement, and RWA Wealth Partners to expand its ultra-high net worth and family office services. RWA Wealth Partners is one of the largest women-led registered investment advisory firms in the United States.
Family office model designed for complex wealth
For families with substantial, intergenerational wealth, they often face more than one financial decision at a time. Selling a business can reshape taxation, liquidity, estate structures, investment strategies, and charitable arrangements; a trust decision can also affect several generations. To provide adequate services to these families, it is not enough to rely on advice from different specialized fields alone; a holistic perspective on each family's financial life is required, and a team is needed to carry out the planning from strategy to execution.
RWA indicates that its family office business is built around this reality. This business serves ultra-high net worth individuals and multi-generational families, whose wealth may span across enterprises, private investments, real estate, concentrated holdings, charitable entities, and multiple trusts. Advisors and portfolio managers work in collaboration with financial planners, trustees, tax and trust professionals, as well as client supervisors and administrative staff responsible for coordinating strategies, personnel, and decision-making to jointly handle matters related to shaping family wealth.
National independent wealth management company Wealth Enhancement announced today that it has reached an agreement to acquire RWA. RWA provides wealth management services through its Family Office and Private Wealth businesses. RWA is led by CEO and Chief Economist Michelle Knight, with its headquarters located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it also has five additional offices in Massachusetts, California, Illinois, and Michigan.
RWA Family Office will enhance the service depth of Reserve. Reserve is a specialized service provided by Wealth Enhancement for families whose wealth scale exceeds the capacity of traditional advisory models. It typically serves clients with investable assets of $25 million or more who have complex and interrelated needs in areas such as investment, taxation, estate planning, trusts, and corporate ownership or succession.
Reserve connects various decisions through a carefully matched team of senior advisors and specialized experts, coordinates professionals both internally and externally, and develops highly customized solutions based on the unique circumstances of each client. RWA Family Office will enhance this service with its mature family office operation model, as well as its expertise in trusts, estate planning, and family governance.
Wealth Enhancement CEO Jeff Dekko stated: "One of the most fundamental founding principles of Wealth Enhancement is to provide complex financial planning for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients. The capabilities of RWA will enhance our ability to meet these needs. Their mature family office expertise will deepen our service for ultra-high-net-worth clients, especially in areas such as trusts and estates, tax-sensitive planning, and the coordination required to seamlessly transform recommendations into action."
How RWA Family Office and Reserve support the needs of complex customers
RWA indicates that RWA Family Office is designed to assist clients in dealing with the most important moments of their lives. For founders preparing to sell their businesses, this service can coordinate liquidity, taxation, investment, estate planning, gifts, and cash flow decisions before and after the sale. For families managing multiple trusts across generations, it can integrate trust management, tax and investment oversight, beneficiary support, and family education. For partners in law firms, it can link salary structures, cash flows, tax strategies, insurance, and estate planning. After losing a loved one, this service can also help to coordinate estate settlement, trust management, tax requirements, and asset transition, while maintaining the continuity of family affairs.
RWA CEO and Chief Economist Michelle Knight stated: "Just like us, Wealth Enhancement believes that comprehensive wealth management begins with a deep understanding of each client and the life blueprint they wish to build across generations. The humanistic aspect of wealth has always been at the core of our services for families, because behind every financial decision lie a set of goals, values, and visions. By partnering with Wealth Enhancement, our team will gain the scale, resources, and breadth of services of a large national company, while allowing us to continue to provide the highly personalized and credible advice that our clients expect."
The profound tradition of trust and estate succession can be traced back to Ropes Wealth Advisors. The latter was once a wholly-owned subsidiary and registered investment advisor of the global law firms Ropes & Gray, and in 2023, it merged with Adviser Investments to form RWA. Its family office capabilities include trust management, professional trustee services, estate planning coordination, and estate settlement, as well as personal and trustee tax planning and filing, analysis of estate and gift taxes, tax forecasting, liquidity event planning, and support for other significant decisions.
Wealth Enhancement Chief Strategy Officer Jim Cahn stated: "As family wealth grows, decisions surrounding that wealth become more interrelated. RWA introduces a model designed for this reality. Combined with the extensive capabilities behind Reserve, this will enhance our ability to transform complexity into clear and coordinated advice."
RWA The continuity of customers at Wealth Enhancement
The company stated that after the transaction is completed, RWA Family Office will continue to be led by Michelle Knight, JP Powers, and the N-token issuing teams le, LaChapelle, and Kristin Fazio to maintain continuity of the customer and service teams. The Private Wealth business of RWA will operate as an advisory team under Wealth Enhancement, and Steve Reder will continue to collaborate directly with these teams. RWA Private Wealth will serve high-net-worth individuals and families through personalized investment management and comprehensive financial planning services, which include integrated tax and estate planning.
The acquisition is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter and will become the exit transaction for Summit Partners.
Summit Partners President and General Manager Matt Hamilton stated: "We believe that this transaction will bring together two industry leaders. Both have a rich heritage and experienced capabilities in serving customers at different wealth levels. We are honored to have been involved in the growth of RWA over the past few years." Summit Partners's responsible person Ashley Smith added: "The vision and commitment of Michelle have played a key role in shaping RWA into the company it is today. We are grateful for her leadership and look forward to the next chapter for RWA and the teams at Wealth Enhancement as well as the customers they serve."
