My friend and I both felt it was time to take a trip without children around. We went to Disney World in Florida for just one day, bought Park Hopper tickets, and visited Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot without purchasing Lightning Lane. We played 12 different attractions and tried 6 kinds of food.

My friend and I both think it's time for us to take a trip without any children around. Between the two of us, we have a total of 7 children, ranging in age from 6 to 10 years old, including 3 sets of twins.

We know we want to go to a warm place to prolong the feeling of summer a little longer, because we all live in Maine, where the leaves have already started to turn red.

The only destination that kept coming to mind was Florida. Since both of us are die-hard Disney fans, I came up with a crazy idea: not to take the kids to Disney Land.

Being able to regain that childlike feeling with my friends is one of the most exhilarating experiences of my motherhood over the years.

We bought Park Hopper tickets.

Since we still wanted to relax by the pool and have some frozen drinks, we decided to set aside only one day, and just one day, for Disney World. So we bought Park Hopper tickets, which allow us to move between different parks.

The way we use tickets is very crucial, and it's completely different from how we used to play when I took my children there. In the past, when my child and I bought Park Hopper tickets together, I always felt that the money spent was not worth it, because they only wanted to visit one park at a time, or we would spend too much time on things like eating, snacking, using the restroom, and all the other necessities for children.

This time, it was just the two of us. We played in 3 parks: Hollywood Studios, Magic Kingdom, and Epcot. Our initial plan was actually to only play in two parks and skip Magic Kingdom, but we finished many projects in Hollywood Studios before 1 pm, so we decided to add one more stop.

We worked on 12 projects.

Of course, our strategy is not to try every project in every park. We just let things take their natural course, especially since we didn’t spend any money on Lightning Lane. Since we don’t have a fixed plan, we also don’t want reservation times to limit our itinerary. On that Sunday we visited, the price of Lightning Lane ranged from $24 to $27, depending on the park.

Let's start with Hollywood Studios. Since both of us are fans of "Star Wars" and have never been to that area before, we were able to ride the attraction quite quickly without having to wait in line for long. Later, we went to the Toy Story area, and I finally got to ride Slinky Dog Dash, which everyone was really eager to try. It was also the attraction that required the longest wait for us that day; we waited for 45 minutes.

My friends and I grew up in these parks since we were kids, and we all know we have to play Tower, of, and Terror because they are classic games. It's been 15 years since I've played these games last – my children aren't interested in such exciting activities – but they are even better than I remembered them to be.

When we entered Magic Kingdom, our first reaction was that it was incredibly empty, especially since it was a weekend. After looking at the map, I found that the waiting time was surprisingly short. I thought that the day we went happened to coincide with Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party, which was very advantageous for us. Those who purchased tickets for that event could enter the park after 4 p.m., so although we weren't the only ones there, the longest wait we experienced was during Tiana's Bayou, where we waited for 30 minutes.

In the evening, we finally went to Epcot to experience International Food, and, Wine, and festival. Before, we never had the chance to do this because the children didn't have the patience to walk from one stall to another to try new things. While eating, a light rain began to fall from the sky, so we went inside the Frozen Ever After shelter to take cover from the rain. After all, October is the hurricane season in Florida, so some weather changes are expected.

We tried 6 different kinds of food.

Actually, we didn't know that a food festival was being held at that time, but we did know that we wanted to end our trip at Epcot in the evening because we wanted to have a proper dinner there. After all, in the other parks, we had only eaten some snacks.

As soon as we entered the festive area, we ordered a frozen mango margarita first – after all, we deserved it – then we started our dinner at an Indian stall with samosas and chicken curry, followed by another mango yogurt drink with alcohol. After that, we went to the Greek section and tasted a spanakopita that was incredibly delicious.

Then we went to Brazil, where we tasted moqueca, de, and camar. We also drank frozen caipirinha – but none of it compared to the margaritas and mango yogurt drinks we had just consumed. Our “world tour” of delicious food came to an end with snails from France. However, the last thing we ate was a Mexican ice cream paleta, which was undoubtedly my favorite food of the day. After that, we walked around the park, enjoyed activities that rarely required waiting in line, danced with a live band, and kept reminding ourselves that if the children had been with us, we would never have been able to do all of this. After taking more than 27,000 steps and laughing for hours, we left this truly magical place in the world and collapsed straight into bed. That day, I wasn’t anyone’s mother; I was just a girl having fun at Disney with my best friend. I didn’t even realize how much I missed that “version of myself.”
