Meta stated on Monday that it plans to raise a total of $95 billion to support its investments in infrastructure and super intelligence in AI.
After the announcement of the news, the stock price rose by 1.6% before trading began.
This tech giant will first raise funds through a $35 billion underwritten public equity offering, and then additional $60 billion through a market-price issuance plan.
Meta indicates that the planned investments will support "emerging AI opportunities," including their application family, AI intelligents, Muse, as well as data center services.
The company stated that it will balance the funding sources for these investments through a combination of operating cash flows, investment-grade debt, partnerships, and equity capital.
Meta is one of the growing number of large-scale cloud service providers that finance the expensive infrastructure required for the AI craze by borrowing money.
Last week, Meta announced its third-quarter results, with revenue increasing by 26% year-on-year to reach $64.6 billion, exceeding analysts' expectations of $63.37 billion. However, investors are more concerned about the technology company's negative free cash flow and its revised annual capital expenditure forecast.
The company currently expects that its annual capital expenditures will range between $135 billion and $145 billion, with the lower end of the range being raised from the previous estimate of $130 billion. This news caused the stock price to fall on the same day.
