McLean, Virginia, October 29th / PRNewswire / -- Appian (Nasdaq Code: APPN) Today, it was announced that the U.S. Army has deployed the initial version of the Army Operational and Training Ammunition Information System ( Total Army Combat and Training Munitions Information System TACTMIS ). This project is being advanced through the Army Enterprise Agreement ( EA ), and the team delivered the TACTMIS in just 110 days after the contract was awarded.

TACTMIS is built upon the foundation of Appian Defense Cloud which holds a Level 5 ( IL5 ) certification, and is designed to modernize the ammunition planning, management, and reporting processes for over 10,000 users worldwide. This system supports combat readiness reporting within the army, as well as planning, programming, budgeting, and execution processes.

John Hinnant, the Ammunition Supervisor at the U.S. Army Headquarters and the Office of the Chief of Staff of the Army G3, stated: “TACTMIS represents an important milestone in the Army’s broader modernization efforts. This initial capability lays the foundation for more rapid delivery of new features as mission requirements evolve, ensuring that our ammunition management system continues to support the needs of frontline soldiers.”

The new system is designed to reduce manual workload, improve data integrity, and accelerate business processes through automation. TACTMIS A modern cloud-based enterprise platform has replaced the decentralized use of emails, spreadsheets, and fragmented traditional workflows.

TACTMIS is the authoritative source for the Army's management of ammunition requirements, authorization, forecasting, and consumption reporting. It can automatically calculate demands and centrally manage authorization, electronic application processing, consumption verification, and enterprise-level reporting.

Leveraging Appian data networking ( data fabric ), TACTMIS ensures data integrity while coordinating processes between the existing Army and Department of Defense enterprise systems. This has improved the visibility of ammunition requirements and usage among the active Army, Army National Guard, Army Reserves, and joint partners.

TACTMIS also comes with an intelligent proxy that helps users search for instant records based on the context within 14 operational grids. The proxy can also use approved support and policy information to answer questions, aggregate predictive data, and automatically generate weekly briefings and reports.

The platform has been rapidly adopted. According to data from Appian, in the first three months of operation, the usage of the agent increased by more than 25 times, mainly driven by people using the assistant in their daily operational tasks.

Jason Adolf, Senior Vice President of Public Sector Customer Success at Appian, stated: "Military readiness depends on the ability to deliver critical resources to soldiers quickly, accurately, and completely. TACTMIS demonstrates how modern software can replace fragmented traditional processes with a system that provides the Army team with a single, reliable view of ammunition needs, authorization, and usage. We are proud to support the Army in building a stronger digital foundation to ensure ammunition readiness."

With the help of Appian, army leaders and developers can easily optimize processes and business rules as combat requirements change, without having to go through lengthy redevelopment cycles. Future enhancements planned include an increment in confidentiality capabilities, aimed at supporting near-real-time reports on combat ammunition needs and consumption.

The initial version of TACTMIS laid the foundation for the continuous expansion of the Army, process automation, system integration, and modernization. Appian Defense Cloud provides a secure enterprise architecture to support the Army's vision of delivering modern, scalable, and reliable systems to commanders, thereby supporting and protecting frontline soldiers.
