McDonald's is expected to release its third-quarter financial report before the opening of trading on Wednesday.
The following are the expectations of Wall Street analysts surveyed by LSEG regarding company performance:
- Earnings per share: Estimated to be $3.38
- Revenues: Estimated to be $7.29 billion
Last quarter, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczynski stated that the company's performance in the U.S. fell short of expectations due to uneven implementation of value-for-money promotions and a complex process for launching new menu items. In response, the company appointed Skye Anderson as the new President of U.S. Operations.
Analysts expect that McDonald's performance in its home market will be even worse in the third quarter. Estimates from StreetAccount indicate that Wall Street expects same-store sales to decline by 0.5%.
Investors will also closely monitor management's comments on the situation so far in the fourth quarter. Executives from Zilefang Mexican Barbecue ( Chipotle Mexican Grill ) stated last Wednesday that foot traffic in the catering industry slowed down in October.
Over the past year, McDonald's stock price has fallen by about 11%, due to investors' concerns regarding its U.S. operations, expensive restaurant renovation plans, and the broader economic environment. The company's market value is approximately $186 billion.
