French Commission Supports Stablecoin Exchange Tax and Crypto Exit Tax
2026-10-10 21:03:43
According to CoinMeta, the Finance Committee of the French National Assembly voted this week in favor of taxing crypto holders when they convert their assets into stablecoins, as well as imposing an exit tax on wealthy holders who move their assets overseas. However, on Friday, the committee rejected the entire revenue section of the budget with a vote of 31 to 3. As a result, the entire parliament will start from the government's original proposal, which does not include the crypto-related amendments. The committee's amendments will not be incorporated into the final text, so their supporters will have to reintroduce them during the plenary debates that begin on October 13.
