According to CoinMeta, as reported by Coin Bureau, Hong Kong is quietly building the world's most ambitious digital asset ecosystem. By issuing government green bonds, Hong Kong has raised a record amount of HK$20 billion (approximately $2.54 billion) using blockchain technology, making it the largest digital bond issuer in the world. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority ( HKMA ) stated that this issuance further solidifies its commitment to innovation in the bond market. The history of Hong Kong's digital bond issuances is as follows: 2023: HK$800 million, 2024: HK$6 billion, 2025: HK$10 billion, 2026: HK$20 billion, with the issuance scale increasing by 25 times over three years. This issuance also introduced tokenized Hong Kong dollar deposits for settlement, bringing blockchain technology one step closer to mainstream financial markets. Hong Kong is moving beyond the experimental stage and is building a real digital financial infrastructure.
