According to CoinMeta, and as reported by The Paper, the Second Intermediate People's Court of Tianjin announced that on September 28th it accepted a case filed by the procuratorial authorities to confiscate the illegal gains of Qian Zhimin, the actual controller of Lantian Greer. The case involves 61,896 units of BTC, as well as other encrypted assets such as BCH, BSV, XRP, DOGE, along with cash and jewelry. The prosecution alleges that from 2014 to 2017, Qian Zhimin raised approximately 40.378 billion yuan through illegal fundraising via Lantian Greer, causing losses of around 19.977 billion yuan to over 102,000 investors. Subsequently, he fled to the UK with a Bitcoin wallet. The involved encrypted assets have been seized by British judicial authorities. Meanwhile, the UK High Court recently ruled that disputes over the ownership of about 61,000 units of BTC should be governed by Chinese law, with the core issue of the case being whether the victims are entitled to the appreciation benefits of the Bitcoin.
