According to CoinMeta, and as reported by Coindesk, the French Parliament is reviewing the 2027 budget and plans to include the conversion of cryptocurrencies into stablecoins that are regulated by the European Union's Crypto Assets Markets Regulation (MiCA) in the scope of 31.4% capital gains tax starting from January 1, 2027. Chainalysis, the CEO of the French region, Fran ç ois, warned that this measure may prompt traders to turn to stablecoins outside of EU regulation and offshore channels that are more difficult to monitor. The Finance Committee passed the relevant amendments on October 7 and supported measures such as requiring self-managed crypto wallets holding at least 100,000 euros in assets to be declared, as well as including crypto assets in the scope of departure taxes, on October 9. Subsequently, the Finance Committee voted 31 to 3 against the government's 2027 budget revenue section. The related crypto tax amendments need to be submitted to the National Assembly for re-examination, with the revenue section vote expected to take place on October 20. As of now, none of these measures have become law.
