According to CoinMeta, JPMorgan Chase has adjusted its energy transition financing strategy to include nuclear energy and grid investments within the scope of eligible projects for its $1 trillion green financing goal. The bank stated that this move will help meet the historic surge in energy demand while supporting energy affordability and supply security. Heather Zichal, head of JPMorgan Chase's Energy and Environment Center and Sustainable Development Strategy, said that this adjustment is part of the bank's re-examination of its $2.5 trillion sustainable development goals. Zichal said, "The scale of electricity demand and infrastructure construction we are discussing is incredible; the world needs more energy. As a bank, it is our responsibility to expand our financing efforts." JPMorgan Chase has made it clear that it aims to take a leading role in electrification financing, including becoming the preferred lender for grid projects. CEO Jamie Dimon, in the preface to the bank's sustainability report, listed energy infrastructure as a key component of its $1.5 trillion "Security and Resilience Plan," which was launched last year with the aim of supporting U.S. national security.
