Bitcoin network computing power gradually stabilizes after a sharp decline

CoinMeta data: According to U.Today, the computing power of the Bitcoin (BTC) network is gradually stabilizing after experiencing a sharp decline. Renowned crypto market researcher Zach Pandl pointed out that the network's computing power reached 1.1 terahashes per second (zh /s) at the end of 2025, but it dropped to 850 EH /s in early 2026, a decrease of nearly 27%. As of October 13th, Bitcoin's computing power had rebounded to about 1.075 zh /s, which is an increase from the previous day's 1.003 zh /s, but it is still below the level of a year ago. The main reason for the decline in computing power is the deterioration of mining profitability, especially after the significant drop in Bitcoin prices. CoinShares reports that in June, the price of Bitcoin computing power dropped to only $27.70 per Petahash per day, making it difficult for many miners to cover their operating costs. Rising electricity costs have also exacerbated this trend. CoinShares noted that increased electricity prices and temporary power restrictions in Texas have forced some mining facilities to reduce their operations.
