CoinMeta data: With the surge in on-chain proxy transactions, the micro-payments of autonomous AI software are playing an important role. According to a report from Chainalysis, over 138 million transactions have been recorded through the Base blockchain of Coinbase. The United States dominates this emerging market, with wallets associated with the US accounting for 88.1% of geolocation-based payments, while Chinese-associated wallets account for only 0.1%. Chainalysis, the head of the research team, stated that Chinese developers tend to use open-weight models, reducing the need for metering and inference services. As payment giants such as Visa, Mastercard, and Stripe begin to support the x402 protocol, Coinbase has also started to allow commercial customers to accept payments mediated by AI proxies. Data from Chainalysis shows that most payments made using the x402 protocol range from one to ten cents; traditional credit card networks are not economical in processing these small transactions. Although the transaction volume is still small, findings from Chainalysis indicate that autonomous software is beginning to establish its own consumer habits, with the United States taking a leading position in the paid AI service market.
