CoinMeta Data: According to the 2026 security report released by blockchain security firm Hacken, a total of 107 crypto security incidents were recorded in that quarter, resulting in cumulative losses of $1.18 billion, setting a new record for the highest quarterly losses since 2025 Q1. The report indicates that supply chain supplier intrusions, tampered developer tools, and unaudited infrastructure vulnerabilities accounted for 77% of the losses (about $906 million). The top four incidents accounted for 80% of the total losses, including the Bitget theft ($387 million), the Liquid Network vulnerability ($320 million), the Tectonic vulnerability ($120 million), and the Coldcard firmware vulnerability (about $115 million). Smart contract vulnerabilities remained the most frequent type of attack, with 71 incidents resulting in $228 million in losses. In terms of handling the funds, about 33% of the affected funds ($387 million) were recovered, or the platform itself compensated $410 million ($BJWKEEP_00008__ protection fund fully covered $387 million). Ultimately, about 32% of the losses ($384 million) were neither recovered nor compensated for.
