Zcash Plunges 11% Due to Leveraged Accumulation
2026-10-15 20:44:49
CoinMeta data: According to Decrypt, the privacy coin Zcash tumbled 11% in the past 24 hours, with its market value dropping to $18.5 billion, making it one of today's biggest losers. Analysts pointed out that this decline in valuation is a result of the leverage accumulated after its recent price surge. A senior researcher at CoinShares, Luke Nolan, emphasized that the “rapid rise” of Zcash has seen it increase by 460% since March, but in the “fragile” crypto market, the biggest winners often suffer losses as well. In the past 24 hours, according to CoinMeta data: the amount liquidated from long positions in Zcash reached $17.9 million, which is significantly higher than $7.3 million in HyperLiquid. Meanwhile, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin and Ethereum Foundation researcher Justin Drake warned that the industry needs to be prepared for AI to potentially disrupt cryptocurrencies before quantum computers become a reality.
