According to CoinMeta, the Central Bank of Russia announced that starting from July 1, 2027, individuals will not be allowed to conduct direct peer-to-peer transactions of crypto assets. Such transactions must be carried out through authorized intermediaries, and individuals are not permitted to transfer crypto assets from digital accounts to self-hosted wallets. The new crypto asset regulation rules will come into effect on September 1. Trading operators and custodian institutions will be subject to the supervision of the Central Bank of Russia, and the use of cryptocurrencies to pay for goods and services will be prohibited. It is stated that peer-to-peer transactions are more resilient to regulatory crackdowns than those conducted on centralized platforms.
