2026-10-16 00:48:53
According to CoinMeta, as disclosed by Chainalysis, one of the main victims of a recent Ledger wallet theft incident was also a scammer themselves, losing over 60 BTC, worth approximately $4.8 million. The scammer profited from a fraud scheme, inducing victims to create false sales volumes and reviews for genuine products, and then demanded that the victims recharge their accounts in order to receive their compensation under the pretext that they had negative balances. On September 22, the scammer transferred the obtained funds to three different Ledger addresses. On October 9, the thief emptied these addresses through three transactions, with all the funds being transferred to the same wallet, which has since been reported to be involved in the stolen funds.
