CoinMeta Data: MSCI Announces New Global Stock Index Eligibility Rules, Which Could Put Bitcoin Financial treasury Companies Strategy (MicroStrategy) and Metaplanet at Risk of Removal. The new rules will take effect on November 30, 2026, and MSCI confirms that companies no longer classified as non-operating firms will no longer be allowed to enter its global investable market indices. MSCI will release a final list of potentially affected companies on November 11, at which point their eligibility will be in question. According to data from May 2026, MSCI, Strategy and Metaplanet were identified as potential candidates for removal in early simulations. Strategy recently disclosed that it purchased 250 BTC in the past week, worth approximately $21.5 million, bringing its total holdings to 848,250 BTC. Metaplanet is also expanding its bitcoin holdings treasury, planning to retain 85% to 90% of its assets in bitcoin.
