OpenAI Upgrade to GPT-Live-1.1: 13 new voices added, reducing the repeated "checking" messages
2026-10-16 16:37:05
According to CoinMeta, OpenAI has launched a new version of its real-time voice model, GPT-Live-1.1, and also brought out a lightweight version, GPT-Live-1.1 and Quip. This update adds 13 new voices, covering languages such as French, German, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, and Mexican Spanish, as well as a new English voice tone named Bubbie. OpenAI states that the new version improves multi-language accents, making voice conversations more natural. When AI searches for information, it no longer repeatedly uses fixed phrases like "checking," and transitions tasks to other models more smoothly. GPT-Live-1.1 will become the default voice model for users of Plus and higher packages, while other users will continue to use Quip by default. The updates are being gradually pushed to ChatGPT, Codex, and Dots; API will be available later on.
