Pi Network On August 27th, visible smart contract activities occurred on the testnet. Testnet wallets indicated that the related calls were associated with the BNPi reservation application established on that network, which some community members viewed as new progress before the mainnet switch.

Two calls have appeared on the test network.

The two currently visible functions are server_auto_release and release_booking_escrow, which are mainly used for fund custody and automatic release in booking scenarios.

According to this design, after the user completes the reservation, the funds will first go into a custodial account. Once the guest checks in, the funds are automatically released to the landlord; in case of any disputes, they will be handled according to the preset rules.

The mainnet launch is still scheduled for September.

This hosting feature is related to Protocol 27, which Pi Network is currently advancing. This upgrade aims to expand the network's smart contract capabilities, and the related mainnet schedule is still set for September 15, 2026.

According to information leaked from social media platforms, the decentralized exchange and automated market maker interfaces in the Pi Wallet test network are also being updated, indicating that the construction of related infrastructure is progressing in tandem.

PI rose by 2% in the past 24 hours

PI is currently trading at around $0.09178, up 2% in 24 hours, but has still seen a slight decline in the past week. Compared to some altcoins that have seen increases of 30% to 50% recently, PI has performed relatively weakly overall.

Looking at a longer period, PI is still more than 96% below its historical high of $2.99 set in February 2025; however, compared to the low of $0.07059 in July 2026, the price has rebounded by about 30%.

The pace of unlocking in 2029 slows down.

Additional data provides monthly token unlocking forecasts extending up to 2029. Compared to earlier stages, the pace of subsequent unlocks has slowed down.

  • It is expected that 3,405 PI will be unlocked in July 2029.
  • It is expected that 15,722 PI will be unlocked in August.
  • From September to December, it was mostly between 2,488 and 3,694.

Some market participants believe that the slowdown in unlocking means less new selling pressure, which could provide support for long-term price performance. However, this judgment currently mainly stems from market expectations.

LuLu uses USDC for cross-regional settlement: 24-hour remittance processes still need to comply with regulations and ensure local currency settlement
Circle released a case in August stating that LuLu Financial Holdings uses USDC to support cross-regional remittance settlements in the Gulf, Middle East, and Asia-Pacific regions. The case study describes a specific institution using stablecoin infrastructure in a particular business process and should not be extrapolated to imply that the entire regional remittance system has been fully digitized on-chain. Cross-border remittances involve licensing for both the sender and recipient, bank cooperation, foreign exchange conversion, customer identity verification, anti-money laundering checks, and local cash or account payment networks; on-chain settlement can improve one of these processes, but it does not necessarily replace all of them.

Circle Mint Expands support for 8 local currencies for deposits and withdrawals: The addition of channels does not mean individual users can use them directly
Circle announced in August the expansion of the local currency deposit and withdrawal capabilities of Circle Mint, adding 8 new local currency channels. The core of such updates is how institutions can convert fiat funds into on-chain stablecoins, followed by redemption and settlement; this is not a retail wallet feature available to all individual users. Circle also emphasizes in its public statement that Mint is mainly targeted at institutions, and specific services are subject to restrictions based on location, account qualifications, banking partnerships, and compliance requirements. Describing "new channels" as "free withdrawals for everyone" is not only inaccurate but also overlooks the most important access limitations in the use of stablecoins.
