David Schwartz, the former Chief Technology Officer of Ripple and also one of the initial architects of XRP Ledger, responded to claims that he bears some responsibility for the poor performance of XRP.
In the most recent interaction on platform X, Schwartz was asked whether they might affect the price of cryptocurrencies related to Ripple.
A user wrote: "Don't avoid this question. Can you honestly say that you have nothing to do with this? This anger is not unfounded."
Schwartz did not completely deny the possibility of his influence on the price of XRP, but he clearly stated that such influence is very minor.
"Can I honestly say that I have nothing to do with the price of XRP? I think it's not entirely accurate to say I have no relation at all, but it is very minimal," Schwartz replied.
This response from Schwartz came at a time when the XRP community was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the long-term decline in the price of that token.
CoinMarketCap data shows that XRP has fallen by approximately 50% over the past year. During this period, the token has seen several brief upward spikes, but the overall trend remains downward.
Of course, XRP is not the only token to experience such a sharp decline.
Another well-known cryptocurrency Stellar ( XLM ), which is also intended to support payments, exhibited a very similar price trend during the same period.
Schwartz attacks critics of XRP
This interaction stemmed from a previous long article by Schwartz. In that article, he complained about receiving an increasing number of hostile replies on X.
This veteran Ripple revealed that some users follow him into other discussions, where they either call him a scammer or criticize his work on XRP.
Schwartz indicates that he has now decided to block such users, as these posts unrelated to cryptocurrencies are interfering with his discussions with other users.
However, he emphasized that this decision applies to both critics and supporters. Even if someone makes positive comments about XRP in an inappropriate setting, they may still be blocked.
He also emphasized that he is not against honest criticism or those accusations that are reasonable and well-founded.
What annoyed him even more were those users who constantly hijacked unrelated discussions to vent their dissatisfaction.
In fact, Schwartz even stated that if these users no longer do so in the future, he is willing to lift the ban.
Schwartz is still cooperating with Ripple.
Schwartz stepped down from his daily responsibilities at Ripple by the end of 2025. He had worked at this company for over a decade. However, he did not completely leave Ripple.
Earlier this month, Schwartz clarified that he is still a member of the board of directors of Ripple and retains the honorary title of CTO Emeritus.
In addition, he revealed that he still meets with his old team twice a month.
