According to CoinMeta, on-chain analyst AI mentioned that the reverse engineering tool REA has become very popular recently, and developer Matthew Berman claimed that "the software is dead." However, Artcraft's founder Brandon Thomas publicly stated that they will not use REA, emphasizing that the team does not perform decompilation of commercial software and also prohibits the use of tools such as Ghidra to avoid copyright lawsuits. Thomas utilized Claude Opus 5.5 to develop 7 free open-source software products, which are designed to compete with Adobe's Photoshop, Illustrator, and Premiere Pro. Recently, they also launched projects that compete with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Nevertheless, these software products still have issues; for example, Photocraft cannot open HEIC photos, and Filmcraft has defects in basic editing and audio playback. Thomas believes that it may be acceptable to use REA for personal research or with abandoned software, but decompiling commercial software and publicly releasing replicas could lead to legal proceedings.
