Willy Woo: Bitcoin standards may slow down economic growth
2026-10-12 22:07:52
According to CoinMeta, analyst Willy Woo responded to the challenge posed by economist Saifedean Ammous in 2019, stating that Bitcoin's fixed supply increases lending risks and may slow down economic growth. Ammous has reissued his original views and is still awaiting a clear explanation from economists as to why a currency with a hard cap will fail. Woo pointed out that as the value of the currency continues to rise, borrowers must repay loans in more expensive currency, leading to an increased risk of default, which in turn causes lenders to become more cautious. He cited current global lending practices to support AI infrastructure projects, warning that the boom in AI data centers could end in collapse. Woo believes that economies that adopt Bitcoin standards may experience slower growth, but they would also be less prone to bubbles.
