I intend to attempt immortality by 2039. A year has passed, and my biological age remains unchanged. I invite you to join me. The search for the fountain of youth is one of the oldest stories in human history. For millennia, it has been the dream of dreamers, yet always remained out of reach. In the past 24 months, for the first time in Earth's history, a conscious life form has had the opportunity to truly pursue this goal. This is an incredible moment. We currently do not know how to achieve immortality by 2039. Some new and promising therapies can reverse time by decades, but they have flaws. Sometimes, they misdiagnose cancer. We must solve this problem. But we know immortality is possible because nature has already solved it. This is not a physical problem like exceeding the speed of light, but a bioengineering problem that evolution has cracked many times. Freshwater hydras can continuously regenerate their own cells, never aging, thus maintaining their youth. The "immortal jellyfish" (Turritopsis dohrnii) can reverse its cells back to a youthful state, repeating this cycle indefinitely. Lobsters produce an active enzyme called telomerase, which protects their telomeres and prevents DNA from degrading with age. We need to transplant this mechanism into humans. 2039 is a reasonable goal because the pace of innovation driven by artificial intelligence is accelerating. AI is transforming from an assistant into a scientist, empowering existing researchers with unprecedented capabilities to accelerate discovery and development. This, coupled with advancements in biomarker measurement technologies, forms a closed-loop improvement system that will dramatically accelerate research. This is what I've been doing for six years. While current longevity technologies are still rudimentary, the progress I've witnessed is astonishing. I started as a worn-out, inflamed person. I was 42 years old, exhausted both physically and mentally from the poor diet in the US and the hardships of starting a business. Six years later, my physical functions have essentially returned to the level of an 18-year-old elite athlete, including my cardiovascular system, fertility, strength, and hormone levels. However, not everything has been perfect. I have mild to moderate hearing loss in my left ear, which is currently incurable; my brain's anatomical age is equivalent to 42 (I'm 48 this year). Even so, this is still an incredible achievement. My team and I achieved this by following scientific methods. We measured the biological age of each organ, referencing the best scientific evidence on slowing aging and restoring vitality. We meticulously completed these processes and measured again. And so iterated. If we had more precise measurement methods and more effective therapies, we could do more and faster. And both of these technologies are currently flourishing around the world. To accelerate the process, I am currently conducting an in vitro culture experiment, cloning thousands of Brian Johnson's organs. This will allow me to test the reactions of drugs and other molecules with my own body, thereby accelerating learning and protecting my body from potential harm. Yes, we make mistakes. Hopefully, they won't be fatal. Of course, we will always encounter misfortune. But I believe in fate, and I believe fate will bestow upon humanity the ultimate joy: immortality. While immortality is certainly cool, the real (secret) goal is to focus our collective attention on a positive objective. A goal that fills us with hope and excitement for the future. I personally love having a childlike heart, the energy of an 18-year-old, and the wisdom of a lifetime. This 2039 goal isn't just about artificial intelligence; it's about us humans. It's about how we survive the process of developing superintelligence. This is significant. We've never done it before. Many things could go wrong. I believe one of the best ways to increase the probability of building safe AI is to avoid killing each other during this period. It's about shifting our shared aspiration from "Life is short, enjoy it" (YOLO) to "Don't die." Right now, we're like a suicidal species. We're doing all sorts of primitive, foolish things. The food we eat and the lifestyle we adopt are needlessly killing us. Companies profit by harming others with their products. We're ruining our only home. And we glorify it as a virtue. It's terrible, so backward. Soon we'll realize how naive we are. The 2039 goal points us in the right direction. Embrace life, reject death. It's even a form of rebellion. We'll help you achieve what I'm doing with minimal cost and effort in a shared, proactive community. I think this is the coolest goal you can imagine. I find it hard to believe that of all humanity ever has ever existed, we are the ones who have been given this opportunity. I pray that we have the courage to cherish the sacredness of our existence. I pray that we have the courage to defend her against all forces that seek to destroy her. We don't know, but we may be the only intelligent life in this corner of the galaxy. I pray that we can all become warriors.
